1584 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Hārūn narrated to us; Sayyār narrated to us; Jaʿfar narrated to us; Matar al-Warrāq said: “I came to al-Hasan and said, ‘O Abū Saʿīd, by Allah, I have come to you and could scarcely make it here—wading through deep mud beneath my feet with burdens on my head.’ Al-Hasan replied, ‘O Matar, this truth is weighty; it has wearied people and has come between them and many of their desires. By Allah, none remains steadfast upon this truth except one who recognizes its virtue and hopes for its ultimate reward.’”}
