1573 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; he said: I was informed by Sayyar. Murajjaʾ ibn Wadiʿ related: Ayyub ibn Waʾil al-Rasibi once said to me, “O Murajjaʾ, do not preoccupy yourself with this world; be concerned about the Hereafter. One of your companions was overtaken by severe need. One night he went out, and a purse of dirhams was lowered to him from the sky; it landed upon his shoulder. He spent from it for a long while, yet whenever he turned over in bed the purse would sometimes bruise his side.”
1574 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: I was informed by Sayyar. Jaʿfar narrated to us; Ghalib narrated: I saw Yazid al-Dabbi eating coarse bread with salt. I spoke to him, and he replied, “I give thanks to my Lord, for such-and-such a length of time passes and I have no food other than this.”
