1555 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Ṣamad narrated to us; Abū Kaʿb ʿAbd Rabbihī, the companion of al-Jurayrī, narrated to us, saying: I heard al-Ḥasan say:
“The believer is a stranger in this world; he is not distressed by its humiliations, nor does he vie with its people for the honor it bestows. People are at ease with him, while his own soul keeps him occupied. Glad tidings, then, to the servant who earns lawfully and sends his surplus ahead for the Day of his poverty and need. Direct that surplus to the place Allah has directed, and do not cast it here in ways that will harm you.”
