1544 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Hārūn narrated to us; Sayyār narrated to us; Jaʿfar narrated to us; Mālik ibn Dīnār narrated to us, from al-Ḥasan, who said:
“True faith is the faith of the one who fears Allah—Exalted is He—when no one sees him, yearns for whatever Allah has encouraged him to seek, and shuns whatever angers Allah.”
Al-Ḥasan (may Allah have mercy on him) then recited: “So it is; only those of His servants who have knowledge truly fear Allah.” (Quran 35:28)
