1533 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Ḥumayd narrated to us; Nuʿaym ibn Maysarah narrated to us; Ibn ʿUyaynah ibn al-ʿAsr narrated to us. He said: al-Ḥasan—may Allah have mercy on him—said, regarding His—exalted is He—word, “When shackles will be around their necks, and chains; they will be dragged” (Q 40:71):
“We have been informed that the fetters are not fastened around the necks of the people of Hell because they overpowered the Lord—exalted is He; rather, whenever the blaze lifts them up, the Fire forces them back down.”
Then al-Ḥasan—may Allah have mercy on him—was carried away unconscious.
