1520 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Abu Musa al-Ansari narrated to us; al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us; Shayban narrated that he heard al-Hasan say to one of the Banū al-Shikhkhir, “Relate something to us, young man.” He replied, “We have not yet reached that level, O Abu Saʿid.” Al-Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said, “And who among us has reached it? Satan would love to gain control over this. By Allah, were it not for the covenant Allah has laid upon the scholars, we would never have spoken.”
