1517 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Rawḥ ibn ʿAbd al-Muʾmin, Abū al-Ḥasan al-Muqriʾ, related to me; Khalid ibn Shawdhub said: “I once saw Farqad al-Sinjī wearing a woollen cloak. Al-Ḥasan seized the cloak and said—‘Son of Farqad! Son of Farqad!’ twice or three times—‘Taqwā (God-consciousness) is not found in this garment; true taqwā is what settles in the heart and is confirmed by one’s deeds and actions.’”}
