1496 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Hārūn narrated to us; Ḍamrah narrated to us, from Ibn Shawdhub, who said that al-Hasan declared: “By Allah, no servant ever truly affirms the reality of the Fire without the very earth—vast though it is—testifying to the truth of his belief. As for the hypocrite, even if the Fire were right behind this wall, he would still not acknowledge it until it actually confronted him.”
