1487 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Ahmad narrated to us; Ibn ʿUlayyah narrated to us; Rawh ibn al-Qasim narrated to us that one of his relatives devoted himself to ascetic practice and said, “I do not deem khabīṣ—or, he said, fālūdhaj—lawful for myself, because I cannot render its due thanks.” I met al-Hasan and mentioned this to him, and he replied, “That man is foolish; he cannot even give thanks for cold water.”
