1485 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Ahmad ibn Ibrahim narrated to us; Musa ibn Ismaʿil narrated to us; ʿAbd ⦗214⦘ al-Hamid ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Muslim ibn Yasar narrated to us; Thabit al-Bunani told me:

I was in the presence of al-Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) when a blind beggar approached and said, “Give charity to one who has no guide to lead him and no sight to direct him.” Al-Hasan replied, “That is the owner of this house,” and he pointed to the neighbor behind him—meaning ʿAbd Allah ibn Ziyad. “None of his entire retinue serves as a guide to lead him toward good or advises him to it, and he himself possesses no inner vision by which he can see and benefit.”
