153 – ʿAbd Allāh related to us; my father related to us; Wakīʿ related to us, from Sufyān, from Yazīd—meaning Ibn Abī Ziyād—from Zayd ibn Wahb, from Abū Dharr, who said:
A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, “O Messenger of Allah, the ḍabʿ has consumed us.” He replied, “There is something I fear for you even more than that: that the life of this world be poured out upon you without restraint. How I wish my community would not wear gold.”
I asked Zayd ibn Wahb, “What is the ḍabʿ?” He answered, “It is a year of famine.”
