Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal

1462 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Wakīʿ narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Wāḥid ibn Zayd, on the authority of al-Hasan, said:
“I encountered people among whom a man could live for seventy years without ever asking his family for a particular dish. I also met people who could have seventy years pass without once resting their heads on a pillow, and when one of them did eat a meal, he regarded it as nothing more than a stone in his stomach.”
