1445 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Muhammad ibn Sabiq narrated to us; Malik ibn Mighwal, on the authority of Humayd, said:
One day in the month of Rajab, while al-Hasan was in the mosque, he was sucking up a little water and then spitting it out. He drew a long, heavy breath, then wept until his shoulders trembled. After that he said:
“Were there life in the hearts—were there soundness in the hearts—I would make you weep through a night whose morning is the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, a night that gives birth to the dawn of the Day of Resurrection—no created being has ever heard of a day with more nakedness laid bare and more eyes in tears than the Day of Resurrection.”
