1405 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Muhammad ibn Ishaq ibn Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us; he said: Anas ibn ʿIyad related to me, from Yunus, who said: Ibn Shihab said:

Iblis said to Jesus son of Mary (peace be upon him), “O son of Mary, nothing will befall you except what Allah has written for you.”

He answered, “Indeed, O enemy of Allah.”

Iblis continued, “Then climb this mountain and throw yourself down, and I will see whether you die.”

Jesus (peace be upon him) replied, “O enemy of Allah, Allah, Most High, puts His servant to the test, but the servant does not test his Lord.”
