Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal
  1. ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Sayyār narrated to us; Jaʿfar narrated to us; and Mālik ibn Dīnār narrated:

I heard ʿAbd Allah ibn Ghālib al-Ḥadhdhāʾ say in his supplication:

“O Allah, we complain to You of the folly of our minds, the shortfall in our knowledge, the nearness of our appointed terms, and the passing away of the righteous from among us.”

Mālik said: A fragrance of musk would be noticed coming from his grave, so I went, gathered some of it in my pouch, and it kept giving off the scent of musk.
