- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Aswad ibn ʿAmir narrated to us; al-Hasan ibn Ṣalih narrated to us. Some of our companions reported that it is related from Mutarrif ibn ash-Shikhkhir that he said: “Among the favors Allah—exalted is He—has granted His servants is that He coupled this yaqīn (certainty of faith) with a measure of ghaflah (heedlessness). Had He instead joined to it khashyah (unceasing awe), they would have been unable to benefit from anything at all.”
