- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; al-Hasan ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAziz al-Jarawi related to me. He said: Ḍamrah wrote to us, from Abu ʿAṭāʾ, from his father, who said: Mutarrif would come in from his estate to Basra, and his whip would shine before him. His brother said to him, “If we were to relate this to people, they would call us liars.” He replied, “Whoever denies it is the greater liar.”
١٣٦٧ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الَجَرَوِيُّ قَالَ: كَتَبَ إِلَيْنَا ضَمْرَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: كَانَ مُطَرِّفٌ يُقْبِلُ مِنْ ضَيْعَتِهِ إِلَى الْبَصْرَةِ " فَيُضِيءُ لَهُ سَوْطُهُ فَيَقُولُ لَهُ أَخُوهُ: إِنَّا لَوْ حَدَّثْنَا النَّاسَ بِكَذَا كَذَّبُونَا قَالَ: الَّذِي يُكَذِّبُ بِهِ أَكْذَبُ "
