141 – ʿAbdallāh narrated to us; my father narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us; Zuhayr narrated to us, from Sharik ibn ʿAbd Allāh, from ʿAtāʾ ibn Yasār:
The Prophet ﷺ sent Muʿādh to Yemen, whereupon Muʿādh said, “O Messenger of Allah, counsel me.” He replied: “Fear Allah as much as you can, remember Allah beside every stone and tree, and whenever you commit a sin, follow it up with repentance—the private with the private, and the public with the public.”
