- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn ʿAbbād narrated to us; Sufyān narrated to us; he said: A man from the descendants of Muṭarrif ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Shikhkhir informed me that Muṭarrif dug a grave for himself inside his house. He would then be carried to it in order to recite the Qur’an there, and when he passed away he was laid to rest in that very grave—may Allah have mercy on him.
١٣٥٩ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ وَلَدِ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ أَنَّ مُطَرِّفًا حَفَرَ لَهُ قَبْرًا فِي دَارِهِ ثُمَّ كَانَ يُحْمَلُ حَتَّى قَرَأَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنَ فَلَمَّا مَاتَ دُفِنَ فِيهِ (رحمه الله) "
