- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Ahmad ibn Ibrahim narrated to me; Yazid ibn Dinar narrated to us; ʿUmar Abū al-Faḍl al-Kindī narrated to us, from Abū al-ʿAlāʾ, the brother of Mutarrif, from Mutarrif, who said:
“To be kept safe and thus show gratitude is dearer to me than to be afflicted and then show patience; and to pass the night asleep and wake up repentant is dearer to me than to spend the night standing in prayer and greet the morning self-satisfied.”
