- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Yunus narrated to us; Shayban narrated to us, from Qatadah, on the statement of Allah—Exalted is He: “Indeed in that are signs for every steadfast, grateful person” (Qur’an 14:5). He said: Mutarrif used to say, “How excellent is the servant who is both steadfast and grateful: when he is granted something, he shows gratitude, and when he is tried, he remains patient.”
١٣٤١ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلَهُ – Exalté soit-Il –: ﴿إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُورٍ﴾ [إبراهيم: ٥] قَالَ: كَانَ مُطَرِّفٌ يَقُولُ: «نِعْمَ الْعَبْدُ الصَّبَّارُ الشَّكُورُ الَّذِي إِذَا أُعْطِيَ شَكَرَ وَإِذَا ابْتُلِيَ صَبَرَ»
