- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Rawḥ narrated to us; Saʿīd narrated to us, from Qatādah, who said: ⦗195⦘ Mutarrif used to say, “The excellence of knowledge is more beloved to Allah than the excellence of worship, and the best aspect of your religion is waraʿ (scrupulous piety).”
١٣٣٥ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ: كَانَ ⦗١٩٥⦘ مُطَرِّفٌ يَقُولُ: «فَضْلُ الْعِلْمِ أَحَبُّ إِلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ فَضْلِ الْعِبَادَةِ وَخَيْرُ دِينِكُمُ الْوَرَعُ»
