- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Ahmad ibn Ibrahim narrated to me; ʿAffan ibn Muslim narrated to me; Sulayman ibn al-Mughira narrated to us and said: “It has reached me that Mutarrif used to say, ‘There is no human being who is not foolish in his dealings with his Lord—exalted is He—though some kinds of foolishness are lighter than others.’”
١٣٣١ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَفَّانُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ قَالَ: بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ مُطَرِّفًا، كَانَ يَقُولُ: «مَا مِنَ النَّاسِ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا وَهُوَ أَحْمَقُ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ رَبِّهِ – Exalté soit-Il – غَيْرَ أَنَّ بَعْضَ الْحُمْقِ أَهْوَنُ مِنْ بَعْضٍ»
