Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal
  1. ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; ʿAbd al-Rahman narrated to us; Abu Hilal narrated to us, from Thabit, who said: “We were sitting at the door of Anas when Mutarrif said to me, ‘Fear of the Fire—or even the mere mention of it—has stood between me and asking Allah for Paradise.’ He added: There was also a man from the people of Madinah named ʿUtbah. ʿUtbah then said, ‘Allah has not required this of His servants.’”
