- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Rahman narrated to us; Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us; from al-Jariri, who said: Mutarrif heard a man saying, “I seek Allah’s forgiveness and repent to Him.” He retorted, “Perhaps you will not really do it.”
١٣٢٦ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْجَرِيرِيِّ قَالَ: سَمِعَ مُطَرِّفٌ رَجُلًا يَقُولُ: أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ: «فَلَعَلَّكَ لَا تَفْعَلُ»
