1312 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Muhammad b. ʿUbayd Allah, Abū Jaʿfar b. al-Munādī, narrated to me; Yūnus b. Muhammad narrated to us; Yaḥyā b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-ʿAṣarī said: Sahbāʾ bint Aws, the wife of Khulayḍ, told me that Khulayḍ used to say:
“No servant whose need presses him so that he takes from a trust in his possession—placing his confidence in Allah, exalted is He, and relying upon Him—then spends it without extravagance, intending to repay that trust, and whom death overtakes before he can do so, except that Allah, exalted is He, will say to His angels: ‘My servant So-and-so was driven by need; he drew upon the trust in his keeping, trusting in Me and relying on Me, spent it without waste, and death intervened before he could repay it. I call you to witness, My angels, that I have satisfied So-and-so concerning his rightful due, and I have pardoned So-and-so.’”
