Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal

ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; Ibn Abī Ziyād narrated to us; Sayyār narrated to us; Jaʿfar narrated to us, from Thābit and ʿAlī ibn Zayd, from Anas ibn Mālik, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “How many a disheveled, dust-covered man, dressed in two worn garments, whom people pay no heed—yet if he were to swear by Allah, Allah would certainly honor his oath. Among such men is al-Barā’ ibn Maʿrūr (may Allah be pleased with him).”
