1296 – ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUmar Mashkad narrated to us; he said: Husayn al-Juʿfi narrated to me, from Zāʾida, from Hisham, from al-Hasan, who said: When the ants became numerous and began to trouble al-Ahnaf, he ordered that a chair be placed over their nest. He then praised Allah and extolled Him, declaring, “You have harmed us; so hold back, or else we shall harm you.” Al-Hasan said: They held back and went away.
