1274 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Damrah likewise transmitted, from Ibn Shawdhab, from Malik, from Ṣāliḥ ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, who stated: “During the rule of Sulaymān we counted the inmates in al-Ḥajjāj’s prisons and found them to number thirty-three thousand. Not a single one of them was legally liable to the penalties of amputation or crucifixion.”
