1262 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us. He said, “I read this report to my father.” Muhammad ibn Musʿab narrated to us, saying: “I heard Makhlad ibn Husayn relate from Hisham that an old woman—who had been a mawlāt (freedwoman) of ʿĀmir and used to stay with him in his house—said:
‘He never held a private meeting with anyone without me, except that once a group of people entered upon him. They spoke to him about something, though I did not understand what it was. All I heard was ʿĀmir saying to them, “I remind you by Allah— I adjure you by Allah—do not become a disgrace to the people of the Quran.”’
