Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal
  1. ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; Hudbah ibn Khālid narrated to us; Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Thābit, from Anas, who said:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “On the Day of Resurrection the person who enjoyed the greatest ease in the world will be brought. Allah will say, ‘Plunge him once into the Fire.’ So he is plunged into it and then brought out. Allah will ask, ‘Son of Adam, did you ever taste any blessing? Did you ever experience any comfort? Did you ever know any happiness?’ He will answer, ‘No, by Your might.’ Then Allah will say, ‘Return him to the Fire.’

“Then the person who suffered the greatest hardship in the world, who was tried more than anyone else, will be brought. Allah will say, ‘Plunge him once into Paradise.’ He is plunged into it and then brought out, and it will be said to him, ‘Son of Adam, have you ever seen anything hateful?’ He will reply, ‘No, by Your might; I have never seen anything I would dislike.’”
