Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal
  1. ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; ʿAbbās ibn al-Walīd al-Narsī related to us; Wahb ibn Khālid narrated to us, from Ayyūb, from ʿAmr ibn Saʿīd, from Anas ibn Mālik, who said:

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was the most compassionate of all people toward children. He had a nursing son in a district on the outskirts of Madinah, and the child’s wet-nurse’s husband was a blacksmith. The Prophet would go there—and we would go with him—while the house had been perfumed with sweet-rush (idhkhir). He would breathe in its fragrance, kiss the child, and then return.”
