1189 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Abu Bakr told me; ʿIsa ibn Yunus narrated to us, from al-Awzaʿi, from ʿUthman ibn Abi Murrah, who then recited the verse, “And the foremost, the foremost—those are the ones brought near [to Allah]” (Surah al-Waqiʿah, 56:11). He explained: “They are the people who are the first to head for the mosque and the first to set out in the path of Allah—Exalted is He.”
