- ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; Abū Kāmil Fuḍayl ibn al-Ḥasan al-Jahdarī related to me; Abū Ismāʿīl al-Qaṭṭād reported from Qatādah, from Anas, who said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ once passed by, together with his Companions, the carcass of a young goat. He asked them, “Do you see how little this means to its owners?” They replied, “Yes indeed, O Messenger of Allah.” He then said, “By Him in whose hand is Muhammad’s soul, the world is even more insignificant in Allah’s sight than this carcass was to its owners when they threw it away.”
١٢٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو كَامِلٍ فُضَيْلُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْقَتَّادُ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَرَّ هُوَ وَأَصْحَابُهُ بِسَخْلَةٍ مَيْتًا، فَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «هَلْ تَرَوْنَ هَذِهِ هَانَتْ عَلَى أَهْلِهَا؟» قَالُوا: نَعَمْ، يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ، لَلدُّنْيَا أَهْوَنُ عَلَى اللَّهِ – Exalté soit-Il – مِنْ هَذِهِ عَلَى أَهْلِهَا حِينَ أَلْقَوْهَا»
