1185 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Abu Saʿid narrated to us; Abu Khalid al-Ahmar narrated to us; a shaykh—whom I heard forty years ago—narrated to us, from al-Dahhak, who said: “A time will come upon people when hadiths will become so numerous that the muṣḥaf (written copy of the Qur’an) will sit covered in dust, and no one will look into it.”
