1171 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Abu Bakr narrated to us; Sharik narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Saʾib ibn Malik, from ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUmar, who related that the Prophet ﷺ said:

“I entered Paradise and saw that most of its people were the poor, and I looked into the Fire and saw that most of its people were the rich. There I observed three who were being punished: a tall woman from Himyar who had tethered a cat—she neither fed it nor gave it water, nor did she set it free to eat the vermin of the earth, so it was clawing at her heart and her back; the brother of Duʿduʿ who used to steal from the pilgrims with his hooked staff, and when caught would say, ‘It only got snagged on my staff’; and the one who stole the two sacrificial camels of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.”
