1168 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Abu Bakr narrated to us; ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, from Yunus, from al-Zuhri who said: ʿUrwah informed me, from his father, that Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) said while addressing the people:
“O Muslims, feel modesty before Allah—glorified and exalted is He. By Him in whose hand my soul rests, whenever I go out into the open to relieve myself I keep my head covered, out of shyness before my Lord—glorified and exalted is He.”
١١٦٨ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقَ، (رضي الله عنه)، قَالَ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ: يَا مَعْشَرَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ اسْتَحْيُوا اللَّهَ – Exalté soit-Il – فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنِّي لَأَظَلُّ حِينَ أَذْهَبُ إِلَى الْغَائِطِ فِي الْفَضَاءِ مُغَطِّيًا رَأْسِي اسْتِحْيَاءً مِنْ رَبِّي – Exalté soit-Il – "
