1148 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Sayyār ibn Ḥātim narrated to us; Jaʿfar narrated to us; al-Muʿallā ibn Ziyād narrated, who said: Ghazwān declared, “By Allah, may Allah never see me laughing until I know which of the two abodes will be my home.” Al-Ḥasan said: He made a firm resolve and carried it out; from that moment on he was never seen laughing until he returned to Allah—Exalted is He.
١١٤٨ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا سَيَّارُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ⦗١٦٩⦘ الْمُعَلَّى بْنُ زِيَادٍ قَالَ: قَالَ غَزْوَانُ: لِلَّهِ (تعالى) أَلَّا يَرَانِي اللَّهُ ضَاحِكًا حَتَّى أَعْلَمَ أَيَّ الدَّارَيْنِ دَارِي؟ قَالَ: قَالَ الْحَسَنُ فَعَزَمَ فَفَعَلَ فَمَا رُئِيَ ضَاحِكًا حَتَّى لَحِقَ بِاللَّهِ – Exalté soit-Il – "
