Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal

Muhammad ibn Humayd also narrated to us; Jarir narrated to us from Mughira, who said:

ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Abi Nuʿm used to break his fast in Ramadan twice.

He further said: Whenever we asked ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Abi Nuʿm, “How are you, Abu al-Hakam?” he would answer, “If we are among the righteous, then we are noble and God-fearing; but if we are among the wicked, then we are base and wretched.”
