1143 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Abū ʿUbaydah al-Halabī narrated to us, from Ḥaywah, from Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb, concerning the saying of Allah — exalted is He: “And those who, when they spend, are neither extravagant nor miserly” (al-Furqān 25:67). He said: Those are the Companions of Muhammad ﷺ; they would not eat food in search of luxury, nor wear clothes in search of elegance, and their hearts were united as though they were a single heart.
