1129 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: “I found this hadith in my father’s book, written in his own hand. Hāshim ibn al-Qāsim Abū al-Naḍr narrated to me; Abū ʿUqayl—that is, al-Thaqafī—informed us, from ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUqayl, from Ibn Abī Khālid—that is, Ismāʿīl—from Abū al-Ṣafar, from ʿĀʾisha, may Allah have mercy on her, who said: ‘Indeed, people have neglected the greatest element of their religion: al-waraʿ (scrupulous piety).’
