1122 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us; from Muʿawiyah; from ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Jubayr ibn Nufayr; from his father; from ʿAwf ibn Malik, who said: “There is no sin whose repentance I do not know.”
He was asked, “O Abu ʿAbd al-Rahman, and what is that repentance?” He replied, “To give it up and never go back to it.”
١١٢٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: مَا مِنْ ذَنْبٍ إِلَّا وَأَنَا أَعْرِفُ، تَوْبَتَهُ قَالَ: قِيلَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَمَا تَوْبَتُهُ؟ قَالَ: أَنْ تَتْرُكَهُ ثُمَّ لَا تَعُودَ إِلَيْهِ "
