1119 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Yazid narrated to us; Humayd informed us, from Thabit, from Anas, that Abu Talhah used to fast frequently during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). After the Prophet’s passing he never broke that pattern until he met Allah—may He be Exalted—except if he was ill or on a journey.
١١١٩ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، أَنْبَأَنَا حُمَيْدٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ أَبَا طَلْحَةَ، كَانَ يُكْثِرُ الصَّوْمَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَمَا أَفْطَرَ بَعْدَهُ حَتَّى لَقِيَ اللَّهَ – Exalté soit-Il – إِلَّا مِنْ مَرَضٍ أَوْ فِي سَفَرٍ "
