1082 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Musa ibn Dawud narrated to us; he said: I heard Malik ibn Anas say: I was informed that Ibn ʿUmar once halted at al-Juhfa. Ibn ʿAmir said to his baker, “Take your food to Ibn ʿUmar.” The baker came with a platter, and Ibn ʿUmar said, “Set it down.” He then brought another platter and started to remove the first. Ibn ʿUmar asked, “What are you doing?” He answered, “I want to take it away.” Ibn ʿUmar said, “Leave it; pour this one over it.” Each time he brought a platter, he would pour its contents onto the first. The servant then went back to Ibn ʿAmir and said, “That man is a Kufan Bedouin!” Ibn ʿAmir replied, “That is your master, Ibn ʿUmar—may Allah be pleased with him.”
