1036 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Abu Saʿid al-Ashajj narrated to us; he said: Ismaʿil ibn Ibrahim al-Taymi narrated to us; he said: Ibrahim Abu Ishaq al-Makhzumi narrated to us, from al-Maqburi, from Abu Hurayrah, who said:
“Jaʿfar ibn Abi Talib loved the poor. He would sit with them, converse with them, and listen as they spoke with him. Because of this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to give him the kunyah ‘Abu al-Masakin’—the Father of the Poor.”
