Salamah continued: “My father enjoined me to perform the ṣalāt al-saḥar (the late-night pre-dawn prayer). I said, ‘Father, I do not have the strength for it.’ He replied, ‘Then at least make sure you never miss the two rakʿahs before Fajr, and do not thrust yourself into times of turmoil.’”
