Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal

1015 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Khalaf ibn Hisham al-Bazzār, the Qur’an-reciter, narrated to us; Khalid narrated to us, from Ḥuṣayn, from Abū l-Ḍuḥā, from Tamīm al-Dārī.

Tamīm recited Sūrah al-Jāthiyah, and when he came to the verse, “Or do those who commit evil deeds imagine that We shall treat them like those who believe and do righteous deeds?” (45:21), he began to weep. He repeated the verse again and again, weeping, until dawn.
