1014 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Layth ibn Khalid Abū Bakr al-Balkhī narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Muʾmin ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Sadūsī narrated to us. He said: I heard Abū Yazīd al-Madīnī say:
Abū Hurayrah—standing on the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in Madinah, but stopping one step below the Prophet’s own place—declared:
“Praise be to Allah who guided Abū Hurayrah to Islam; praise be to Allah who taught Abū Hurayrah the Quran; praise be to Allah who favored Abū Hurayrah with Muḥammad, peace and blessings be upon him; praise be to Allah who has fed me al-khamīr (rich, leavened bread) and clothed me in al-jabīr (fine garments); praise be to Allah who married me to the daughter of Ghazwān after I had been her hired servant, working only for the food that filled my stomach. She used to comb my hair, and I have combed hers just as she combed mine.
Then he said: ‘Woe to the Arabs for an evil that has drawn near! Woe to them when authority passes to immature boys: they will judge by caprice and kill in anger. Rejoice, O sons of Farrūkh, rejoice, O sons of Farrūkh! By Him in whose hand is my soul, were the religion suspended at the Pleiades, men from among you would still reach it.’”
