992 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; ʿAbd al-Malik narrated to us; Ismaʿil narrated to us, from Abu al-Mutawakkil, that Abu Hurayrah and his companions, whenever they were fasting, would sit in the pre-dawn hours saying, “We are purifying ourselves of our misdeeds.”
