977 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; I was informed by Sayyār. Jaʿfar and ʿAbd Allah ibn Shumayṭ narrated to us, from Shumayṭ, that Allah—exalted be He—revealed to David (peace be upon him): “If you rescue one who is on the brink of ruin from his destruction, I shall name you a jahbadh (a person of acute discernment).”
٩٧٧ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، أُخْبِرْتُ عَنْ سَيَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ شُمَيْطٍ، عَنْ شُمَيْطٍ أَنَّ اللَّهَ – Exalté soit-Il – أَوْحَى إِلَى دَاوُدَ (عليه السلام): إِنَّكَ إِنْ اسْتَنْقَذْتَ هَالِكًا مِنْ هَلَكَتِهِ سَمَّيْتُكُ جَهْبَذًا "
